pruning espalier figs into a fan form in italian gardens

this fig tree was planted and cut back to 45cm at the beginning of spring. I soon had enough new shoots to tie on to my wire support. On this particular fig espalier I decided to try an open, fan espalier.

The laterals are then shortened to 15cm after fruiting in September

In just one year it was already producing fruit.
